Whether you're looking to carry out some routine maintenance or to learn the essentials of dealing with that emergency DIY task, the Building Skills Academy Weekend DIY Course is just for you!
The course covers:
- Health & Safety.
- Introduction to tools, and their correct usage.
- Basic Plumbing: The water system, taps, valves, tanks, cisterns, waste drains. How and where to turn off water, repair that dripping tap, stop a leaking radiator, clear that blocked toilet and more...
- Introduction to Tiling: Correct use of tiles, types of tiles, adhesives, grouts and trim. The how to of replacing a broken tile, drilling a tile, cleaning tiles, grouting tilies and apply sanitary silicon.
- How to of Carpentry; Introduction to the safe use of tools, inclusive of saws, chisels, drills, hammers, screwdrivers...with lots of practice.
- Essential Electrics: Changing a 3 pin plug, 3 pin plug fuse, light bulbs – safety with electrics, with a brief on current legislative practice.
- Decorating – Preparation, estimating wall paper required, hanging wall paper, painting doors, skirting boards and architraves. or
- Plastering for a half day instead of Decorating
