Basic Plumbing - 5 Day course December 2009.

I booked on a Handyman Multi Skills course and completed my Plumbing training just before Christmas. I had never considered plumbing before and was aprehensive as I always considered myself not very practical. However, by the end of the course I was able to hold my own with more experienced students and I was proud of my achievements.  Our instructor was brilliant and guided us all patiently and professionally throughout the course.  Over Christmas I was able to replace an old radiator, drain, flush and recharge, bleed and balance the heating system for my sister saving well over £350, paying for my first course.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Building Skills Academy Plumbing course and I am now looking forward to the rest of my courses.

Wall and Floor Tiling - October 2009

Initially I was sceptical about what I would learn on a short 5 day course, but by the end of the week I was exhausted but delighted with what I learned and achieved.  I now feel competent enough to satisfactorily tile walls and a floor to a good standard.   The course provided a good balance of theory and practice; was well structured and culminated in putting all the skills I learned to use by the end task.

My overall impression of the course was that I was extremely surprised and impressed with the knowledge and skills I gained.   Jim the instructor was a very able teacher.  The facilities were good and the course atmosphere was pleasant. The wall and floor tiling course was a great experience and I have no hesitation in recommending the course to anyone thinking about a basic tiling course.  A perfect first step introduction to tiling.  Thanks to the Building Skills Academy.

I chose to train with the Building Skills Academy after a visit to the training centre, meeting the management and staff and touring the facilities. The courses provided at Building Skills Academy were ideal for my needs. They are well structured, easy to understand and the flexibility of being able to attend the courses (as and when I wanted) was a real benefit.

Never having tackled any practical DIY work in the past, I was naturally apprehensive, however, the instructors were always there to ensure I received the highest level of attention and support.

Plastering level 1 - 5 Day course -28 Sept to 2 Oct 2009.  I wanted to learn the essentials of basic plastering to be able to compliment my other skills as a plumber, electrician and kitchen fitter.  The course was well structured, with a excellent combination of theory and practical, with emphasis on the practical.  The instructors were excellent and expalined and demonstrated everything in detail making it easy to understand and put into practice.  This is an excellent course, with great value for money and I certainly recommend the course to anyone with or without any plastering skills.   Steve Goodwin, Northants.

Wall and Floor Tiling 28th Sept to 2 Oct 2009.  I was apprehensive about taking on a Wall and Floor Tiling  course but was soon put at ease by the very experienced instructor.  He had time for everyone and at the same time allowed us to experiment and develop our own techniques within the strict tiling principles he set out for us. I am now confident in the use of all the basic tools, design, layout and methods of tiling.  I found the instructor excellent with a quiet and reassuring method of teaching, giving me confidence to tackle every task.
